Instructions
This is a variation of the Hot Potato Game.
This game can be played either sitting or standing.
The premise of the game is to pass an object around the circle as fast as you can back to the start.
The English Teacher variation:
Have the students form a circle, either sitting or standing.
The teacher will pick one student to start.
The teacher will pick any word or topic to review.
For example, Fruit.
The chosen student starts to pass the object around the circle and as they pass the object the chosen student must name words associated with FRUIT.
For example: Juicy, Apple, Banana, Orange etc
The teacher can set a goal number of words, for example five. The higher the number of goal words the higher the level of the students.
The student must name five associated words with FRUIT before the object comes back around the circle to them. So, as the object is being passed around the student must say five things associated with fruit. If the object comes back to them before they can say all five words, they are out.
If your students are standing, have them change the rhythm of passing the object.
For example, pass the object in the front of you and the next person must pass it behind them.
Set rules for incorrectly doing the rhythm.
Repeat this so each student gets a chance to play.
